Grasshopper Jungle

Andrew Smith

A lot of people love this book, and for good reason: it’s a one of a kind. A guy and his best friend unknowingly let loose huge people-eating grasshoppers that slowly but surely begin their conquest of their small town of Ealing, Iowa, where nothing happens, until everythin happens. Smith has been compared to Vonnegut for his quirky humor and use of offbeat subjects to resounding and often mind-expanding and heart-touching effect. And we hear this is going to be turned into a big movie, and it’s certainly ripe for it. Grasshopper Jungle is epic.
